Day 20/365

After a little bit of surgery on my face, my doctor told me to put this silicone gel on the site of the stitches to help minimize the scarring.  So I've been doing that.  This little tube, only 15 g, cost - are you sitting down - $52!!!!  OTC, so it's not covered under my health benefits plan.  Ouch!  That hurts almost as much as the surgery!  Still, if it's going to keep me from being called Scarface in the future, it's worth it.  But still........

Day 19/365

Remember Benny, my shadow?  Remember I said he plays fetch with his foam ball?  Well, here he is with his foam ball, playing fetch.  Didn't believe me, did you?

Day 18/365

Just finished reading this book.  Very good read.  Keeps you guessing.  Just when I thought I had it pegged, it all changed.  I've never read Jeffrey Archer books before.  I picked one up thinking it was a different Jeffrey, but it wasn't.  I read it anyway.  A friend said she likes JA, so lent me two more of his books.  This one was really good.  I'm reading the second one now.  It's about 1,000 pages, and will keep me busy for a while.  I only read during a half hour of my one hour lunch break at work, so it's slow going.  I may look for more of his books in the future.  They're kind of cloak and dagger books, if you like that sort.  I do.

Day 16/365

These are the kinds of shows we watch on TV.  Go big or go home.  No G ratings for us.  We're hard core TV watchers.       :-)  Unfortunately, my parents are long gone, but my B/F still has his parents.  One evening while watching HC (hard core) TV, this announcement came up, and he actually telephoned his parents to ask if it was okay if he watched it.  He's such a kidder!!  :-)

Day 15/365

Yay Canada!!!!  Way to go on the ice dancing competition, Tessa and Scott!  You've lifted the spirits of Canadians across the country.  The dance was absolutely beautiful, so much emotion in it, and perfect in every way.  It's no wonder you're the gold medalists!  Way to go!!  Yahoo!!!!!!

Day 14/365

This is Bean.  He's my other cat.  He's more low key than his black brother, Benny (who isn't really his brother, but we don't let them know that).  Bean is content to just stay out of the way.  He loves to be petted, but doesn't like to be touched.  Figure that one out.  I can't.  He's got the sweetest disposition, and is a real sweetie.

Day 13/365

Mmmmmm.........one of my favourite stores.  Michaels.  Now that my friend and I are starting our own gift basket business together, I'm spending a lot of time (and money) at Michaels.  I can always find something to buy.  I'm making a lot of unique gifts, so Michaels is very important to me.  And sometimes, I buy things just because I like them, or because they're sparkly.  Sparkly is always good!

Day 12/365

This is my truck, Luke.  He's a 1992 Ford Explorer.  I love Luke.  He's the best!  Even though he's old, he's still got a ton of spunk in him, and goes like he's still a kid.  I guess at heart, he still is.  Here he is with his new Olympics 2010 flag flying in the breeze.  He feels pretty spiffy with his flag flying.  I'm sure he'll miss it once the Olympics are over and I take it off.  But we'll still have the memories.  :-)

Day 11/365

Yay Olympics!  Gotta love 'em!  Since my guy knows I'm really into the Olympics, he went out and got me this flag for my truck, Luke.  Can't wait to fly it.  I like the car flags, and went nuts in 2004 when the Calgary Flames were in the playoffs.  They lost, but it was a great ride, and I got two flags for my truck.  Now I'll be flying this Olympic flag tomorrow.   Go Canada!

Day 10/365

You remember Benny.  My miniature shadow.  This is how he likes to sit on stairs.  He stays like that for hours.  He sleeps like that.  He's the funniest cat I've ever had, and I've had lots!  He's got so much personality.  What a character!

Day 9/365

Celery, carrots and green onions.  They were awesome in the fried rice I made for dinner.  Nothing beats fresh veggies!

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 8/365

This is Bailey (named after one of my favorite drinks).  He was given to me as a Valentine's Day gift from my favorite guy.  I've had a pretty rough weekend, so Bailey and I spent most of it curled up in my favorite chair, watching the Olympic Games.  Bailey liked the men's mogul skiing the best.  I think I did, too.  I think Canada did, too!

Day 7/365

This is Eagle.  He's a greyhound, and lives with my in-laws.  He's like a 90 lb. cat.  He likes to cuddle on the couch with his mom.  All greyhounds are like that.  They're very sweet dogs.

Day 6/365

Another grey day in Calgary, but you've got to admire the beauty in that.  Besides, the weather makes it a perfect day to stay inside and watch the Olympics.  Go Canada!

Day 5/365

Let the Games begin!  Good luck, Canada!

Day 4/365

Today was the first day of the Staff Association Convention.  It happens every February, and it's a chance to hear some lectures, take some classes, and generally have a fun two days.  It's also a chance to get together with other staff members who we haven't seen for a year or two or several, and catch up.  There are tables set up so you can spend your money.  This year they had a table that was taking blood and telling people what their blood type is.  I steered clear of that table.  I don't mind seeing blood, but not when it's my own.  Even a little drop of it.  Yeah, I'm probably a big baby, but I'm comfortable with that.

Day 3/365

This is my Baby Topiary.  I make them as gifts, and also to sell.  I gave one to my brother and sister in law when their daughter was born.  Of course, it was in pink, not blue.  They're easy to make, but very time consuming and can be picky sometimes.  A friend and I are trying to start a business doing custom baskets and unique gifts.  This is one of the things we make.

Day 2/365

This is Benny.  He's my shadow, never lets me out of his sight.  He thinks he's a dog.  He plays fetch with his favorite foam ball, drops it at my feet, and waits for me to throw it again.  He can do this for hours, silly thing.  He's going to be 4 years old in April.  Can you just see him in a party hat?  Despite his sour look, he's a sweet cat, and lives for loves.

Day 1/365

The hoar frost for the past couple of days has been incredibly beautiful. This is my neighbor's tree, laden with frost. Even though the sun hasn't been shining for two days, and it's grey upon grey, it's also very beautiful. You can't help but be entranced by everything you see outside.
