Day 45/365

Had to take Luke to the doctor again today.  On the weekend, I had to have AMA come out and change one of his tires, because he picked up a screw, and the tire kept going flat.  When the AMA guy took the wheel off, a cover came off from where the 4x4 bearings and stuff are, and it surprised him.  He said, "Well that's not supposed to happen!"  So I took Luke to the doctor so they could check it out.  They looked at it, and said that it was supposed to be that way, and there was no problem, no safety issue, that everything was fine.  So, I guess, everything's fine.

Day 44/365

One of my crocuses came up today!  It's so beautiful!  it's the only one so far, but I'm expecting lots more.  This is the second year for this garden, so it should be fuller than last year.  Each year gets better.  I'm so happy to see this beautiful bright little flower.  Spring must really be here now.  *sigh*

Day 43/365

My ear has been hurting for 5 days now.  I finally went to the clinic to have it looked at.  The doc there doesn't know exactly what's wrong with it, but says it's a viral thing.  Not much they can do for that.  They put me on some pretty good pain killers with anti inflammatory powers in them, so I should be good with those.  The doc said a virus usually lasts between 7 to 10 days, so I'm halfway there.  Looking forward to the end of this, let me tell you!

Day 42/365

This is our neighbor's car.  It's parked on the grass in front of his house, under his pine tree.  It looks like trailer trash.  I'm NOT happy about it.  Here's the history on this @$#%^!! car.  When we moved into this duplex in '06, the guy was driving that car and they have a newer car for his wife.  Then he got another car, and this one was parked on the street in front of their house, and he parked his car on the other side of the street.  His wife parked her car in front of their house.  Then he got another car, and the two (older) newer ones were parked across the street.  Then he got rid of one of the (older) newer cars.  Then he and the new neighbors on his other side were having a parking feud, and it was ugly.  He has MS, and has a handicapped hanger on his rear view mirror.  To keep the neighbor from parking into their space in front of the houses, he had the City come by and put up a handicapped sign, so that pretty much kept the neighbor from parking too far into their space.  But this little car had to be moved, because it doesn't have a handicapped sticker, the wife's newer car does.  They moved this little POS in front of our house, where my son usually parks when he comes over for Sunday dinner.  The reason the neighbor is keeping this POS is because his daughter may be getting her license any day now (4 years later....), and when (if) she does, he's giving the car to her.  So the car sat in front of our house for months.  Then my other son moved in with us for a while, and he was parking down the street.  We asked the neighbor to move the car so that my son could park there.  Happy news, the neighbor did, in fact, move the car, to the other side of the street.  No matter.  It was gone from in front of my house, and my boys had somewhere to park.  While all this was going on, the POS either didn't have a license plate on it, or, when he did put one back on, it was expired.  After months of being parked on the other side of the street, in front of other people's houses, someone finally complained, and the Parking Control guys came around last week and issued my neighbor a ticket.  That's when he moved it up onto the lawn, trailer trash style.  My B/F was talking to him and told him that he thought there's a City bylaw that says you can't park your car on your front lawn for more than about a 48 hour period.  That's good news.  The better news is that, as of this weekend, the car is now removed from the front yard, and I have no idea where it is, nor do I care.  As long as it's gone, I'm happy!  How ridiculous!!!!

Day 41/365

Wal-Mart.  Can't tell you how much I don't like that store.  Before Wal-Mart, there was Woolco.  Don't know if anyone remembers that or not.  For the first many, many years of Wal-Mart's existance, I just couldn't get my head around that name, and I was always calling it Woolco.  I don't think I do that anymore.  Regardless, I still detest Wal-Mart.  I'd rather go without whatever it is I'm looking for than shop at Wal-Mart.  In Australia, they call it Big W, but it's still Wal-Mart.  I shopped there once while I was in Australia, and didn't like it.  I did find the chocolate covered licorice and strawberry flavored marshmallows there, though.  That was a good thing.    :-)

Day 40/365

Avon day again.  Even Bean likes Avon day!

Day 39/365

Saw this little Smart Car on the way to work.  It's got advertising all over it.  It's almost got more advertising than it's got car!  These little Smart Cars crack me up.

Day 38/365

I love roses!  I love everything about roses.  One of my coworkers decided that her team (of which I'm part) needed to have some roses.  So she brought a rose or two to each of us.  Just because.  How sweet was that?!  I love roses!!

Day 37/365

Well, looky here!  This is my front yard garden.  We face south, so it gets a lot of sun.  You can see a tulip coming up, then some grass (grrrr!!!), then some crocuses.  Or is that 'croci'??  Whatever it is, my garden is starting to come up alreay.  I'm worried that we'll get more bad weather, and they'll be killed.  However, I'm hoping that doesn't happen.  As you can see, the )&*%^%$&%^*& squirrels are already starting to nibble on the tulip leaves/shoots.  I'll have to get some bloodmeal spread out to protect my new growth.  The point of all this is - Spring is on the way!!!  My favorite time of year!

Day 36/365

Went shopping today.  Bought a few things.  And then a few more things.  And a few more.  Until there was a trunk full of things!  I should be all set for supplies for my new business venture now, I hope.

Day 35/365

Woke up this morning to snow!  SNOW!  Wasn't expecting that, I'll tell you.  Surprised me.  Fortunately, it stopped shortly after I left for work, and the day turned nice and sunny soon after.  Shouldn't be surprised.  After all, it is March!

Day 34/365

This is from last night.  Got home too late to post anything, so I'm doing it tonight.  This is a picture of the seafood Alfredo I had at The Olive Garden last night.  It was oh, SO good!  Scallops and shrimp.  My b/f and I met with an old school chum who was in town on a course.  We had a few drinks, lots of laughs, good food, and a great visit.  It was good seeing him after 7 years.

Day 33/365

Love this store.  They have great books, good gifts, lots of metaphysical things, it smells good in there, etc.  Love this store.  This one is in Willow Park in the SE.  There's another one in Bowness.  That one just moved from Northmount Drive NW.  Check it out.  It's even better than the one in WP.

Day 32/365

Here we are, back to going to work in the morning in the dark.  I truly dislike the dark.  It's so....I don't know....DARK!!!!  Damn Daylight Savings.  *sniff*

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Day 31/365

Yes, yes, it's a clock showing 4:21.  What it doesn't show is that's it's now showing the "Daylight Savings" time!  At that same time only yesterday, it was showing 3:21!!!!  Today it's 4:21!  We're into the useless time flipping Daylight Savings.  Whoopdeedoo.  It does nothing more than screw people up.  Even my cats get their schedules all screwed up.  And for what?  What use is Daylight Savings, anyway?!?!  That's an hour of my life I'll never get back!  Oh....  Wait a minute....  I actually do get it back in the fall when we do this whole DS BS thing again!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Day 30/365

We were driving north on 52nd Street SE and the moon was coming up.  It was too pretty not to take a picture of.  Too bad that you just can't capture how big the moon was at that point.  It looks small in the picture, but it was huge IRL.

Day 29/365

Avon Day!  Just like Christmas.  I love Avon Day.  I get to go thru everyone's stuff and see what they got.  It can be so fun.  It can also be a lot of work, making sure all my product has been shipped, figuring out who owns what, bagging it all, making the invoices, then getting it to the people.  Whew!  Lots of work.  But I like it, it's fun, so I keep doing it.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Day 28/365

Can you believe this?  A crack in my B/F's windshield!  He just had the windshield replaced about 3 months ago.  Poor guy.  Looks like he'll be getting another new one, because this little baby is going to go right across from the passenger's side where it started, all the way over to the driver's side, and it'll probably end up being in his way.  Damn Deerfoot Trail anyway!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Day 27/365

Mmmmm.....  Flan.......  Gooooodddd.......
Need I say more?  Cake, fruit, whipped cream.  Makes for the most delicious dessert.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Day 26/365

December 21 is my favorite day of the year.  Why?  Because that's when I know I've made it.  The days start to get longer, and it happens almost instantaneously.  Today, on my way to work, I was going down my alley and saw these trees.  The tops were bathed in a beautiful golden glow from the rising sun, while the lower branches and trunks were still in shadows from the houses.  Pressed against the clear blue sky, it was just too beautiful not to take a picture of.  I stopped my truck, grabbed my trusty camera, and the result is this picture.  Spring is coming.  I can't wait.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Day 25/365

Kind of a difficult picture to look at, isn't it?  It's the sign in the +15 downtown that tells you you're going into Banker's Hall.  I went with a friend to check out some of the competition in the gift basket world.  I've never been to Banker's Hall before.  It's nice, it's expensive.  I'd love to have a shop there!!  Maybe one day....

Day 24/365

Foothills Hospital.  This is where my son's G/F is spending yet another night as they try to figure out what's wrong with her.  Hopefully they'll figure it out soon, will fix it, and will send her home, healthy and happy.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Day 23/365

This is the sad picture of the demise of snow.  Like the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz, it's melting, melting.....  Poor snow.  Take a moment to say your goodbyes to it.  Goodbye.  Yeehaw!  Goodbye, snow!  Begone!  Melt!  Go!  Hopefully that's the last of it.  But don't forget the adage about March (my month).  "In like a lamb, out like a lion."  Let's hope that adage is wrong this time.  Because I don't think I could stand any more winter.  I'm SO looking forward to Spring and warmer weather!  Keeping my fingers crossed......

Day 22/365

Went out for dinner with my man tonight.  As you can see, we went to the Cattle Baron.  Excellent food.  We only do this once or twice a year because it's a touch on the expensive side.  Once or twice a year makes it a bit more special, too.  Next time we go could be August, who knows.

Day 21/365

Part of my desk at work.  Trying to create a little stress-free space for me to gaze at from time to time.  I have my faithful spidey plant, Peter, my little pink paper weight, my "Live Love Laugh" tea light holder, my tapestry clock (which currently needs new batteries), my "princess Kleenex box", as my co-workers call it, and my trusty coffee mug,  Which isn't really part of my stress-free zone, it was just there in the picture.
