Day 66/365

This was the sunshine streaming into the hallway at the place where I work.  After a few days of yuck and wind and rain and clouds and snow, the sun was a much welcomed sight.

Day 65/365

Damn squirrels eat my bulbs as fast as I can put them in the ground!  Will have go get more this weekend and spread some blood meal around each one as I plant it.  Freesia are one of my favorite bulbs.  Unfortunately, I've discovered that they're one of the squirrels' favorite bulbs, too.  :-(  Since they don't like blood meal, I'm hoping to actually get some flowers this year.  Wish me luck!

Day 64/365

Nothing brightens up a cold, wet, dreary, snowy spring day than yellow daffodils!  These are beautiful.  They're so cheery.  You just have to be happier when you look at them.  I really love flowers.

Day 63/365

I'm SO excited about this flower (these flowers)!!  This is blooming on my hoya plant, and it's the very first time EVER that this plant has bloomed!!  I've had it about 15 years (or more), and it has never bloomed until NOW!!  I'm SO excited!!!!  I've seen the flowers on other plants, so I had an idea what they looked like, but my hoya has never been happy enough to bloom until now.  And I feel so bad, because I didn't even realize it had buds on it, let alone flowers, until I happened to look at it today.  I have no idea how long the flowers have been there.  They're hidden, tucked away in the leaves of the plant.  I had to hold the branches up to get this picture.  Anyway, they're beautiful, and I'm SO excited!!!!

Day 62/365

It always tastes better when someone unexpectedly brings you a muffin just for the heck of it.  Yum.

Day 61/365

Went out for dinner last night with some friends who I haven't seen for about 7 years.  We went to Dover Pizza, where they make THE BEST steaks ever.  Always have.  When we left our house in the SE, it was raining a little bit.  By the time we got to DP on the corner of Memorial Drive & 52nd Street, this was what the weather was like.  And the show flakes were the big, thick, wet ones.  It was gorgeous!  This was taken after dinner.  When we got back home, it was raining a little bit.  It's really funny how different the weather can be from one end of the city to the next!

Day 60/365

Mmmmmmmmmmmm................bubbles.........................  I love the bubbles.  I've always loved the bubbles, and now I love them even more, because they come in these sweet little balls that just melt in your mouth.  They are SO good!  I've only seen the balls in the British shops around town, but now they're in my local grocery stores, too!  How great is that?!!!!  I love the bubbles!

Day 59/365

Well, here's a bit of a problem.  This is my parking space in our back yard.  There are two vehicles parked behind me, making it very difficult for me to back out of my parking spot no matter which way I turn.  The guy with the maroon truck is a real PITA when it comes to this, as he does it every summer.  Hooks up trailers and ATVs and boats to the back of his truck, then parks behind me.  I've been asking him via notes left under his windshield wiper for 2 years now not to park there, because it makes it very difficult for me to get in and out.  But he keeps doing it anyway.  Tonight is worse, because of the black truck parked opposite him.  I called Parking Control and had the maroon guy ticketed.  It's not very neighborly of me, but then, neither is it neighborly of him to keep parking there when I've asked him nicely several times not to park there.  I've even told him I could have him ticketed or towed.  I've even left  him a copy of the City by-law, and highlighted the parts that explain why he can't park there.  Well, I finally had him ticketed.  If he's stupid enough for there to be a next time, maybe I'll have him towed.  I don't like doing this, but I'm tired of having this problem.  Life sucks sometimes.  For both of us.

Day 58/365

Someone at work actually put this bathroom reader into the bathroom.  I don't know about anyone else in my office, but I sure don't have time in my day to sit back, put my feet up, and read a book while I'm in the bathroom!  I mean holy cow, people!  It's not your house bathroom, nor is it a library!  Other people need to get in and use it, you know?  Brother.  Why are some people so stupid?!

Day 57/365

This is one of the bathrooms at work.  As you can see, there's a huge honkin' full length mirror right smack in front of the freakin' toilet!  That means that, if you're female (which I am), then you get to see yourself pee each time you go to the bathroom!  If you're a guy, then you only see yourself when you're doing the sitting down business.  How nice is that?!  Why in the freaking hell anyone would even THINK of putting a mirror there must have shit for brains!  The bathroom is quite large, and that stupid mirror has a lot of other places it could go.  But no.  They've put it in front of the toilet.  Really classy.  There's no point in asking our caretaker to move it, because he's the laziest piece of work I've ever had the displeasure of meeting, and he won't even mop up the dust bunnies under our desks.  The poor things have to get to the size where they can crawl out all on their own.  Sheesh!

Day 56/365

My granddaughter's birthday party was last weekend.  She and her friends went wall climbing, and they were like little spider monkeys, climbing up those walls like nobody's business!  They were fun to watch.  Kids really know how to have fun and live life to the fullest.  After the climb, there was cake, ice cream (actually, ice cream cake), presents, pinata, and finally "girl stuff" like doing each others nails.  All in all, it was a fun day for everyone involved.

Day 55/365

That strange orb you see in the sky, and the strange light emanating from it???  Don't be afraid.  It's the SUN!  Yes!  You remember "the sun"!  That mystical force that hasn't been around for a long time.  Well, here it is.  Take a picture, so you can remember what it looks like if we ever get such crappy weather in April again.  I mean, really!  Winds, clouds, rain, snow....  It's APRIL!  About time we got a bit of sun and some warmth.  Please let summer be on it's way......

Day 54/365

Garbage day at our house.  Look at all the blue bins lined up, waiting their turn to be emptied.  I have to admit, I was against the blue bin idea, but in using it, I'm realizing just how much recycled material we go through in an average week.  It's massive!  Our bin is always full.  I like to think that we may actually be making a difference in how we treat the earth by recycling, reusing.  Now I hear the City will be bringing in organic bins next year.  I'm actually looking forward to those bins, since I got rid of my composter last year.  I always hate throwing organics into the trash, when I think they can be used for better things.

Day 53/365

Dental Swag!  I went to the dentist today - didn't bite anyone this time - it was just for my 6 month check up and cleaning.  All went well, and I'm good to go.  They didn't let me pick anything out of the treasure chest, but I did leave with all this cool stuff!  Even a pink highlighter that can clip onto a belt or purse or anything I want to clip it onto!

Day 52/365

Yes, what you're looking at is snow.  In April.  As I said before - usually we get this stuff in March, but very seldom in April.  Very depressing.  Shorts and sandals seem so far away.  "They" say it's going to be +15 by the weekend, but I WANT IT NOW!!!!!  Is that too much to ask??

Day 51/365

A couple of days late, I admit, but life got busy all of a sudden - something I'm not used to anymore!  It tires me out, and I go to bed early.  Can't be getting old.......

This is the block heater cord and front grill of my truck, Luke, a few days ago, when a blustery storm roared through Calgary.  It came in very quickly, and was extremely windy.  It coated everything in a sheet of snow/ice/sleet.  Poor Luke was covered from front to back with a thick layer of this stuff, and had to be dug out.  Usually we get this weather in March, so I think it caught everyone by surprise.  Certainly it's ferociousness did.

Day 50/365

Boss's birthday.  We had scads of fun.  She wasn't impressed.  Oops!  Our bad!  It was very quickly cleaned up.  Won't be doing that again any time soon!  And FYI - one ply TP is extremely difficult to write on!  She should have at least been impressed with our painstaking abilities to do that.  :-)

Day 49/365

This picture was taken in my living room, looking out my window.  The reflections is from my coffee table, which has a glass top, and some hand carved wood under the glass.  I think it's a pretty cool shot!

Day 48/365

Easter!  Happy Easter!  Nothing like a basket full of candy to get kids bouncing.  We had an Easter Egg hunt today.  All holidays are better with kids.  They tore through the house like cyclones, and snapped up all the candy they could.  I think they got it all.  If not, we'll probably find it over the next few weeks.  Chocolate is always good, no matter when you find it.  Happy Easter!

Day 47/365

I showed you the crack in my B/F's windshield, now I'm showing you mine.  Fortunately, it doesn't get in the way of my driving.  Just as it gets to the middle of the windshield, it dips down to the bottom, out of my way.  It's been like this for about 7 years now.  When I got it, I had accidently stepped into a puddle, and my shoe was wet.  Since I had a long way to drive to get to work, I figured I'd put my soggy shoe up onto my dashboard, and have the hot air vent blow hot air into it, thus drying it by the time I arrived at work.  In theory, it was a great idea.  Unfortunately, I didn't notice that I'd wedged the shoe between the dash and the windshield right where a chip in the glass was.  The crack you see is the result of that.  Damn.

Day 46/365

Went out for lunch today with 2 co-workers to The Cheesecake CafĂ©.  This is the Country Club Sandwich that one of the gals had.  It was huge!!  She couldn't open her mouth wide enough to get it in, so she ate it with a knife and fork.  Plus she was only able to eat half of it, and took the rest of it with her when we left.  I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which I have all the time, and my co-workers make fun of me for that.  But I figure - if I like it, why mess with anything else?!  I'm a creature of habit.
