Day 88/365
Every once in a while, we go out for breakfast, and we usually got to Humpty's. The food is good, and they're fast. We're in and out of there in an hour, and really full! It's a nice treat.

Day 87/365
I just love it when the trees are so big that they canopy the road. This is a street in our community, lined with (ugh) poplar trees, but the effect is magnificant. Unfortunately, as I said, they're poplar trees, which, in my opinion, are just giant weeds. But the look is nice, and I'll be very upset the day the City decides to tear these weeds down. No matter what other trees they put up instead, I'll never see them do this again.

Day 86/365
This picture was actually taken a few weeks ago. I was stabbing potatoes with a very sharp knife, making baked potatoes. Not paying attention to what I was doing, I stabbed one potato, and the knife went right through the potato and into my finger, which was underneath the potato. It must have gone deep, because it bled profusely, and, for a couple of weeks after I did it, it hurt inside. This is very unusual for me to do - stab my finger. Honestly, I usually stab my thumb! Kids - don't try this at home!!

Day 85/365
Yes, it's snowing again. May 27, and it's snowing. Just can't figure this weather out. There was one year back in the early '70s, where it snowed every month of the year. Wonder if that's where we're headed this year....

Day 84/365
This just kind of struck me as funny. I've never seen a "Barber Dentist" before. I may be sick, but I still find it funny!!

Day 83/365
I stitched these bears years ago, and framed them. They've been sitting around for a while, waiting to be hung, and I finally got around to doing it. There are also two more in this series, and I'll be stitching, framing, and hanging them sometime in the future.

Day 82/365
This is our new tree, Toby. He's a hawthorne. We got him yesterday at one of the nurserys just south of the city. We spent a lot of time thinking about what kind of tree to get. When we got to the nursery, we walked around looking at them, we talked to the staff there, we weighed the pros and cons of different trees, and finally decided on this, a Toba Hawthorne.....so....Toby. We'll plant him in the front yard. Because we face south, we're hoping that he'll offer a bit of shade for the house, as well as look beautiful. He gets these tiny little white flowers that turn pink, then produce berries that the birds will come and eat. I think we made a good choice.

Day 81/365
Candle party. I love candles, but this brand is too expensive for my budget. They're great candles, but just not what I want to spend my money on. The house smells so good when candles are burning. I try to have some burning all the time, just for the smell.

Day 80/365
Had the lawn aerated. Now it looks like little turds all over the lawn. It's quite gross. We're supposed to leave them there and they'll break down and work their way back into the soil. Still, it looks like we've got a lawn full of dog turds.

Day 79/365
Yay, it's finally happening! The leaves are starting to come out everywhere, making everything green and beautiful. I had my doubts this year if we were actually going to get an foliage on anything other than pine trees. Spring just seemed to be slipping away. But now it looks like we're back on schedule, and everything is turning green. I love the month of May. I think it's my favorite month of the year!

Day 78/365
Looks like it's getting to be time to throw the flowers out. They're starting to drop like flies. They were certainly beautiful while they lasted.

Day 77/365
My Mother's Day flowers from Doug. The Tiger Lilies are opening up beautifully. The smell is so beautiful, I could stand by them all day.

Day 76/365
I love it when a plan comes together. That's a standard line from The A-Team. Well, I love it when a dish comes together. This is pretty much the "perfect" bowl of potatoes au gratin that you could ever hope to bake. It's beautiful. I'll never be able to do this again, so I'm posting it here so I can see it over and over and over.

Day 75/365
More truck problems. My "Check Engine" light keeps coming on. Scares the pants off me. I'm afraid that I'm going to break down in the middle of rush hour traffic. My mechanic says I won't, but it still scares me. I had to take the truck - Luke - to the shop - again! - to get him fixed. Again. This time, it's the fuel regulator. Who knew he even had one?! Today they replaced the regulator, and say that should stop the CE light from coming on again. I sure hope so. I can't afford to worry, or to break down, or to pay for many more repairs on Luke. He's 18 years old, so has certainly earned the right to break down if he wants to. I just want him to last about 2 more years for me.

Day 74/365
I did it. I joined a gym - Fitness Plus. Big step for me, but I'm ready for it. It's kind of exciting. Other than Curves, I've never belonged to a gym before. They're going to work out a fitness program just for me and my needs, and hopefully I'll be a lot healthier by this time next year. Wish me luck!

Day 73/365
Aren't these beautiful! My B/F gave them to me (surprised me with them) this morning - Mother's Day. And I'm not even his mother! He's so sweet, my guy. I'm very lucky to have him in my life.

Day 72/365
This is Indy (L) and Eagle (R). They are my B/F's parent's greyhounds. We were babysitting them this past week while the parents went on a little vacation. The dogs are good, very low key, more like big cats. Not much trouble, and little work. They've gone back to their own home now, as their mom and dad are back. The house seems bigger with them gone.

Day 71/365
This morning. Obviously it snowed last night. Nothing unusual for the beginning of May. Everyone is complaining about it, but it's not like we haven't had snow in May before. We just have to wait for the good stuff to come through. And it will.

Day 70/365
Bean laid claim to our pizza. Guess he liked the smell and the warmth. Needless to say, he didn't stay there long, not with two hungry adults wanting to eat dinner!

Day 69/365
This is my co-worker. I call her Babs. She doesn't mind. She's driving me home from work. My poor truck, Luke, wouldn't start, so I had to have AMA tow him to my mechanic, who is just a couple of blocks from my house. That was at lunch time. After work, I had to get a ride home with Babs. Fortunately, I've driven her to appointments, and to her house, so she kind of owed me. Now we're even. Had to have a new starter put in Luke, as well as a new cable from the starter to wherever it goes. While he was there, I also got them to give him an oil change. What the heck, eh? Go big or go home. Now it's done. Next is the power steering pump, which is starting to leak. Always something with vehicles, isn't it? You know what I'm talking about....

Day 68/365
My first (and only) daffodil so far. It's a double. Beauty, isn't it? I love flowers, and can't wait to have a whole garden full of them again. This is only the 2nd year for my bulbs, so they're not as many as some gardens I've seen in our area. But next year will be better, and the year after that even better, and so on and so on and so on. I'm patient.
