Day 162/365

This is a pic of my calla lily.  I adore calla lilies.  Finally bought one for myself this year.  It's pink.  Of course!  I live in a pink fluffy world!  This hasn't been turned into a black and white.  I took it without a flash, and with the cloudy sky as the background.  This is the result.  The cool thing about these lilies is that, after you water them, they ooze a drop of water from the tip of their flower.  All the flowers do it.  It can be so beautiful.

Day 161/365

Went to a training sessison at work for MS Office 2010.  It was a 1 day course, and it was packed, trying to cram about 6 programs into our heads - Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher, Word, probably one more.  It was so much information, I'm sure I forgot most of it as soon as I walked out the door.  But it was interesting, and I was glad I was able to take it.  We get the programs at work loaded onto our computers next week.  Can't wait!

Day 160/365

If you look closely at the center of this photo, you can see where the leaves are in a small pile.  Yesterday, one of my grandbabies raked up the leaves in our back yard for us.  Today....well....you can see that the pile is hardly noticeable because of all the new leaves that have fallen from the tree in the yard next door.  We did appreciate grandbaby's efforts, though.  I think it's strange that so many leaves have fallen, but they're still green!  This has been a very strange year for weather.

Day 159/365

This is what my truck looks like when he doesn't have a license plate on him.  Why doesn't he have a license plate on him? Because some RAT BASTARD (sorry Grandbaby) stole it!!!!  I drove Luke to work today, went for gas at lunch time, and saw that his plate was missing!  The plate I've had ever since I bought Luke in 1997!  I was SO ticked off!!  I drove him back to work, then had a friend take me to AMA after work, where I bought a new license plate.  Then I took a cab back to work, taped the new plate in Luke's back window, and drove home.  Then I went to my B/F's parents house, and his dad bolted my new plate on.  Thank you, BS.  It's been a very expensive and tiring day.  Hope this never happens again.  You can bet I'll be checking on my plate from now on before I drive anywhere.  I don't know when it went missing, so I could have been driving for at least a week without it.  I hope whoever took it doesn't use it in some criminal activity.  Rotten bastards (sorry Grandbaby).

Day 158/365

Brought in my poor begonias.  They've been through heck (children read this blog) this "summer" - and I use that word very loosely.  Between all the rain and hail these poor things have seen, it's a wonder there's anything left of them.  Now there's a risk of frost at night.  No, I think they've had enough, and can now be pampered in the house.  And I googled them, and they're not poisonous to cats.  Although Bean has been very interested in them, and even went so far as to eat some of the flower.  He threw it up pretty quick, though.  Let's hope that teaches him a lesson!!

Day 157/365

Went to Bowness Health Foods this summer and picked up some bags of herbs.  The prices are good, and they have a great variety of them.  It's hard to find stores like this, and I really appreciate this one.

Day 156/365

Oh happy day, it was mammogram day for me.  Such joy in Mudville.  Actually, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.  I don't mind them, and I only have to go every 2 years.  This is the squishing beast.  Looks worse than it is.  The good news is that everything is A-Ok, and I'm good for 2 more years.  :-)

Day 155/365

Even in this terrible, cold, wet weather, there are still small beauties to be found.  For example, this blade of grass in my graveled driveway.  Little drops of water, just sitting on the leaf.  I thought it was incredibly beautiful.  I don't think my small point and shoot camera did it justice.  I think my SLR would have been better at capturing the beauty of this little wonder.  But, not wanting to lose the image altogether, I snapped it, so I could share with whoever wants to look at it.  So, enjoy!

Day 154/365

A friend of mine is clearing out her bookshelves because she's moving to another city.  Fortunately for me, I was in the right place at the right time, and she unloaded a bunch of her books on me.  Oh, happy, happy me!  I'll be kept very happy and content for the next while, as I make my way through all these beautiful books.

Day 153/365

Got this new vase from Avon for making the President's Club.  I can always use a new vase.  And it's not too bad looking, either.  A nice little perk from Avon.  Thank you, Avon!

Day 152/365

Can you believe that my flowers are still blooming??  With all the lousey weather we've had this summer, I've pretty much given up on gardening.  My poor flowers have been drowned, and torn apart by hail, and yet this little day lily has just bloomed.  Nature really is amazing.  My Morden roses that I bought this summer are blooming again, too.  I'm just so surprised at the resilience of plants.  It makes me so happy to see these beautiful bright colors in my garden on gloomy days.

Day 151/365

My son recently had a birthday.  My baby son.  We celebrated with this ice cream cake from DQ.  Who doesn't like DQ ice cream cake?!  When he blew out all the candles, I was afraid the smoke detector was going to go off!!  Fortunately, though, it didn't.  Whew!!  I think we'll have to cut down on the candles from now on.  It was a bit much.  But fun, none the less.  Happy birthday, baby son!!

Day 150/365

What a sweet car!  This is a real beauty.  Someone parked it across the street from our house, and I just had to take a picture of it.  This was back in the days when a car was actually a CAR!  Not the little bubbles we drive now.  I spit on the bubbles we drive now - ptoo, ptoo!!  I do miss the days of these old gas guzzlers.  This was a sweet ride.  We used to have one, and you could get half the neighborhood into it.  Too bad those days are gone.  *sigh*
